The Gauteng Department of Education has said that the 36 Leondale High School students who were caught on camera smoking dagga within school premises had been suspended.
Panyaza Lesufi has also indicated that the disciplinary hearing for the group of learners will be held on Monday.
“The 36 Leondale High School learners captured on video smoking dagga within the school premises have been removed and suspended from the school. Their disciplinary hearing will be held on Monday.” wrote Lesufi.

A video of the learners smoking has been circulating on social media.
The video has gone viral after being shared on social media. Several students in school uniforms can be seen smoking dagga joints on the school grounds in the footage.

Earlier this week another video went viral of a group of learners fighting in class followed by one learner jumping on a teacher during the altercation.
