Eskom has issued a warning that loadshedding may occur at short notice. The power utility said that while no cuts are currently expected, the power system remains strained.
As a result loadshedding may be necessary during the evening on Thursday, 2 June if there are any significant breakdowns.
“Eskom will continue to closely monitor the system, adjust and communicate any changes as may be necessary. We appeal to all South Africans to help limit the impact of the shortages by continuing to reduce the usage of electricity and to switch off all non-essential items.”
The warning of possible loadshedding comes after Eskom suspended daily power cuts which recurred over weeks in May.
Now just two days since loadshedding was suspended, South Africans will have to deal with further cuts.
Details about the stages of loadshedding which will be put in effect will be communicated once the utility makes a decision.
Throughout the month of May, power cuts were made between 17h00 and 22h00.
