The uMkhonto weSizwe Party (MKP) opened a case of treason against AfriForum on Monday morning.
This comes after US President Donald Trump signed an executive order to stop providing financial aid to South Africa recently.
AfriForum said Trump ‘s executive order is caused by ANC’s policies and behaviour not by AfriForum or Elon Musk. They further said Ramaphosa’s signing of the BELA Act and the Expropriation Act was the last straw.

According to a statement from the MKP, the Cape Town Central police station on Buitenkant Street received the treason case on Monday.
Treason under South African law, as defined by the Riotous Assemblies Act 17 of 1956 (among other statutes), includes acts like:
- Attempting to overthrow the government by force or violence.
- Assisting any enemy at war with the Republic of South Africa.
- Instigating foreign intervention in internal affairs with intentions to harm the state.
