US President Donald Trump has given a strong warning to the BRICS nations, threatening to put a 100% tariff on all imports entering the United States if they proceed with the creation of a shared currency.
The US opposes the BRICS push for de-dollarization due to concerns about maintaining its economic and geopolitical influence.
The dollar’s status as the global reserve currency gives the US significant advantages, including lower borrowing costs and the ability to wield financial sanctions.
A BRICS currency could challenge this dominance, potentially weakening the dollar’s value and reducing the US’s leverage in international affairs.
His comments, expressed just hours before a scheduled meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, demonstrate his unwavering opposition to any attempts that could challenge the US dollar’s supremacy in global trade.
“BRICS is dead”
“The day they mention that they want to do it, they will come back and say— we beg you, we beg you,”
“They charge us a tax or tariff, and we charge them the exact tax or tariff. Very simple. They don’t have us over a barrel. We have them over a barrel,” he declared.
"BRICS is dead" says Trump, that too when Modi is in USA 🤯
