The truck driver involved in the N3 horror crash on Tuesday, 01 November has been arrested.
Facing charges of culpable homicide, as well as reckless and negligent driving, the 42-year old driver will appear in the Pinetown Magistrates court.
Shocking dashcam footage showing the moment the truck driver drove into multiple vehicles on the N3 near the Marianhill Toll Plaza went viral on social media.
According to reports, the driver claimed to have lost control of the truck and allegedly could not slow down.
There are calls for the company the driver works for to be held responsible should the investigation find that the truck had defected brakes or other mechanical problems.
The Department of Transport will need to address the concerns regarding the number of road accidents involving trucks, as recently there have been an alarming number across the country.
One of the vehicles involved in this week’s horror crash was swept underneath underneath another truck, killing all four occupants.
