South African hip-hop DJ C-Live, whose real name is Clive Shabalala, recently took to social media to honour his late son, Nadif, on what would have been his 21st birthday.
“Today should have been your 21st birthday, filled with love and happiness,” expressed C-Live, sharing his longing to have celebrated this milestone with his son.
“It was supposed to be the day I told you that you are now a grown man and handed you the keys to the rest of your life,” he added.
“Your mum should’ve been here to see her pride and joy become a man. Today is not what it was supposed to be 😭 Happy birthday, Mshengu.”
Nadif tragically lost his life in 2015 when his family’s home in Bezuidenhout Valley, eastern Johannesburg, caught fire. C-Live was with his son and girlfriend at the time and tried desperately to save him.
Sadly, Nadif was trapped in his bedroom, and his body was later discovered in the corner of the room.
