Three female security officers were gang raped by 8 heavily armed criminals in KZN.
The attack and rape of three female security officers by criminals targeting departmental offices in the eThekwini region has shocked the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Transport, according to the department.
The Department of Transport offices in Merebank, south of Durban, were reportedly broken into by armed criminals on Monday at around 2:30 in the morning.
The incident took place during the nation’s 16 Days of Activism campaign to end violence against women and children.

Sipho Hlomuka, the MEC for Transport Community Safety and Liaison, was alerted to the incident and promptly tasked the Head of Department, Siboniso Mbhele, with making an urgent visit to the site and interacting with the traumatized staff members.
“The criminals also stole departmental work tools, which are used for road maintenance and other assets. The female staff have been taken in for medical examination and cases have been opened with the police,” the department said.
“The cruelty by these criminals against female security officers is unacceptable. Crime against women must be condemned by all of us, more so during such the critical campaign of no violence against women and children.
“We appeal to the police to activate a high-level investigating team and bring these heartless criminals to book. We are also addressing the security improvement in our premises to protect staff and our equipment,”

The Department has confirmed that Psycho-social services have been arranged by the department to help the center’s employees carry out their regular responsibilities.
