Tania Campbell has been reinstated as mayor of Ekurhuleni.
Tuesday saw Tania Campbell of the Democratic Alliance (DA) re-elected as the mayor of Ekurhuleni, defeating Jongizizwe Dlabathi of the African National Congress (ANC).
Dlabathi only managed to win 99 of the 224 votes cast, while Campbell received 124 of them to take over again.
Just last month, Campbell was ousted via a motion of no confidence.
A proposal for the election of an EFF mayor in the city was rejected this morning by the ANC’s provincial executive committee in Gauteng, ending negotiations between the ANC and the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF).
Ahead of the election Point of View had a conversation on the dynamic of the Ekurhuleni mayoral position.
