A suspected Mozambican kidnapping kingpin has been arrested in Centurion on Saturday, 07 January.
The alleged kingpin was arrested with the help of Interpol and the 50-year old suspect has been linked to kidnappings in SA and Mozambique.
Police seized multiple firearms, ammunition, cellphones and bank cards which was found in the suspects possession.
A number of SIM cards from both South Africa and Mozambique were also seized.
According to police, a warrant of arrest and extradition request was issued for the suspect in July last year.
The suspect appeared in the Randburg Magistrates Court on Monday, 09 January and expedition processes have commenced.
A number of dedicated surveillance operations were conducted in the Western Cape, Gauteng and Mpumalanga in order to trace the alleged kidnapping kingpin.
The suspect was arrested at an upmarket estate in Centurion, and is suspected of running a kidnapping and ransom ring since 2018.
