Stage 6 loadshedding will be implemented on Monday afternoon, Eskom alerts South Africans through a statement released this afternoon.
As the generation capacity shortages persist over the next few weeks, loadshedding will continue to be implemented at various stages.
Eskom cautions the public that “it’ll still take a few weeks for the power generation system to fully recover to pre-strike levels.”
Depending on several possibilities – including the workforce fully returning to work to conduct much-needed repairs to equipment – it is anticipated that loadshedding will gradually be lowered to stage 2 by the weekend. “Eskom will communicate and implement any changes as may be necessary.”
The power utility says that they currently have 3 384MW on planned maintenance, while another 18 319MW of capacity is unavailable due to breakdown.
