The Roodepoort magistrate’s court sentenced a Soweto man to eight years in prison for raping his neighbour’s 11-month-old puppy.
The National Council of SPCAs (NSPCA) filed criminal charges against him, and he was found guilty on April 28.
Bestiality was discovered to be committed by Mojalesa Mofokeng.

The magistrate stated that there should be no distinction between animal and human rape.
According to the NSPCA, a tenant staying on a property in Soweto saw the man naked and awkwardly positioned in Moana’s kennel in the early hours of November 21, 2020.
“Having been caught with his pants literally down, he was apprehended by members of the community,”
“The dog was taken to the NSPCA’s veterinarian for an emergency examination and treatment. Dr Bryce Marock confirmed that the dog was inhumanely restrained and demonstrated injuries consistent with rape,” said the NSPCA.
The magistrate said he believes that the courts have a responsibility to defend the rights of animal victims and to inflict suitable sentences in order to prevent the community from taking issues into their own hands.
Under the watchful observation of the NSPCA, Moana has achieved a full physical recovery.
She’s been sterilized, immunized, microchipped, and dewormed.
