Nompilo Dlamini, the determined and courageous cystic fibrosis patient and activist, has sadly passed away. Her family took to Instagram to share this heartbreaking news.
“Dear friends and family… Nompilo passed peacefully in her sleep last night. As a family, we are still digesting the news and will update you about funeral arrangements in due course.”
Nompilo captured the hearts of many with her heartfelt plea to raise R2 million for a life-saving lung transplant. Her plea caught the attention of the generous Cassper Nyovest, who donated R150k and encouraged others to contribute as well.
Born in eSwatini, Nompilo was a dedicated schoolteacher who unfortunately had to leave her job due to her illness.
Taking to her social media five days ago, Nompilo revealed that she was content with her life despite the odds. “I’ve prayed for such a time in my life and never thought I would ever live to,” she expressed in part.
This is a developing story.
