Seven Nigerian men have been arrested for the kidnapping of a Nigerian businessman.
On Wednesday, 10 January, a 48-year old businessman was kidnapped in Fordsburg, Johannesburg.
The South African Police Service (SAPS) anti-kidnapping task team traced the victim and suspects to a lodge in Ferndale, Randburg in less than 24-hours on Thursday evening, 11 January.
SAPS have seized and impounded 6 vehicles which will be sent for further investigation.
According to police the suspects had allegedly withdrawn an undisclosed amount of money from the businessman’s bank account, which has also been recovered.
In the last 2-years, the anti-kidnapping task team has arrested at least 300 suspects where victims were kidnapped for ransom payments.
The suspects are expected to appear in court facing charges of kidnapping.
