SA Presidency has congratulated Zimbabwe on ” holding the harmonised elections”.
The government and people of the Republic of Zimbabwe have received congratulations from South Africa for the recent elections that were held last week.
Emmerson Mnangagwa, the president of Zimbabwe, was elected to his second and last term in office, an outcome that has been criticized by the opposition and questioned by observers.
According to official results released by the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) late on Saturday, Mnangagwa received 52.6 percent of the vote, compared to Nelson Chamisa’s 44 percent.

The African Union (AU) and the South African Development Community (SEOM) Observer Missions were among the invited international observers missions that made preliminary statements, which South Africa has also noted.
“The Republic of South Africa congratulates the government and the people of the Republic of Zimbabwe for organising and holding the harmonised elections to elect the President, National Assembly and Local government representatives, which took place on 23 and 24 August 2023,”
“South Africa calls on all the parties in Zimbabwe to work in unison in sustaining peace and work towards development and shared prosperity in the country.” said the Presidency.
