Snapped undersea cables are the reason South Africa is experiencing internet disruptions, with connectivity issues reportedly only likely to be resolved by next month.
This according Openserve, who confirmed the breaks in two cables, which broke simultaneously on the same day.
The cables were damaged due to a rock fall in the Congo Canyon, and the impact will be felt across Africa and Europe.
Online services will either partially or completely be interrupted as a result, as the breaks in the WACS and SAT-3 subsea cables affect internet speeds.
