The Residents of Primrose have called on police to intervene and stop illegal mining in the area.
The ANC in Ekurhuleni will write a letter to the Defense Minister requesting to deploy soldiers to Primrose in an effort to end zama zama turf wars.
This follows an on the ground exclusive by Kaya News where community members shared their fears over the operations in the area.
Residents of Primrose say the zama zamas have completely taken over the Simmer and Jack dumping site. Residents also say that they fear for their lives with the ongoing gun battles that happen every night.

An eighty-three-year-old resident spoke to Kaya News saying that protection services are afraid of the zama zamas.
The zama zamas are heavily armed. Some of them are more heavily armed than an EMPD officer or a SAPS officer.

Following the investigation by Kaya News, the Ekurhuleni metro police have arrested a member of the zama zamas operating at the Simmer and Jack dumping site in Primrose.

The chairperson of Primrose Community Policing Forum, Tracy Enslin says the South African Police Service confiscated assault rifles and ammunition from the suspect.

Kaya news has also asked the Gauteng Police Commissioner General Ellas Mawela what the plan of action is to help end illegal mining. The office has not yet responded.
