President Cyril Ramaphosa is set to appear before the ANC Integrity Commission to answer questions regarding the $4 million robbery on his farm.
This after former State Security Agency head, Arthur Fraser opened a criminal case against the president for covering up the crime. Fraser is accusing Ramaphosa of bribing the robbers into secrecy, kidnapping and extortion as well as fraud.
Ramaphosa is accused of covering up the robbery, illegally detaining and interrogating the suspects and later bribing them.
While the party commends Ramaphosa for volunteering to appear before the commission over the allegations, there have been mounting calls for the President to step-aside.
The robbery took place at Ramaphosa’s Phala Phala farm in Limpopo, where the President is said to run a game and cattle business.
He says the money came from the sale of cattle and game and from the hunting of the animals on his farm.
However, Fraser alludes to the money coming from various offshore investors, suggesting the President is involved in corrupt activities. Allegations the President has vehemently denied.
Speaking at the ANC’s National Working Committee (NWC) on Monday, 06 June, Ramaphosa said he will appear before the Integrity Commission which is in line with ANC policy.
