The R100 million Lotto winner bought the winning ticket at a Pick n Pay store in Gauteng.
According to Ithuba, the National Lottery operators, a check was done to narrow down where the lucky winner is from.
Ithuba CEO, Charmaine Mabuza said the staggering R100 000 000 jackpot was a result of 25 consecutive rollovers and is the second-highest jackpot to be won in South Africa.
“This monumental win marks the second-largest jackpot in the history of Lotto. We are overjoyed and can’t wait to meet the lucky winner.
We urge everyone who bought tickets at Pick n Pay stores in Gauteng to check their tickets immediately.
This could be your moment of a lifetime.
Our dedicated team is waiting with anticipation to receive the winner to ensure a seamless claim process and transition into their new multi-millionaire status.”
In 2018, the highest Lotto jackpot, of R110 million was won by four people.
Charmaine wished to remind people that tickets are valid for a year from the date of the draw.
The apparent winner struck the Jackpot by selecting all 6 correct numbers in the Lotto draw which took place on Saturday, 03 August.
Although Ithuba shared more details about the R100 million winning ticket, South Africans remain in disbelief and say the Lotto is rigged.
