Qatar Airways Group has bought a 25% share in Airlink, Southern Africa’s leading independent regional carrier.
According to Qatar Airways Group, Qatar Airways currently flies to 29 destinations in Africa, the investment in Airlink, which serves more than 45 destinations across 15 African countries, will strengthen the two airlines’ code-sharing cooperation.
The agreement they say will strengthen Qatar Airways’ Africa growth plan and solidify its position as a vital contributor to the continent’s economic prosperity and the announcement builds on the multi-award-winning airline’s desire to expand its operations across Africa.
“Our investment in Airlink further demonstrates how integral we see Africa being to our business’ future. This partnership not only demonstrates our confidence in Airlink, as a company that is resilient, agile, financially robust and governed on sound principles, but also in Africa as a whole, showing huge potential that I am delighted we are able to help start realising.”
