Pretoria serial killer Wellington Kachidza has been sentenced to 6 life terms and 192 years in prison for 34 counts of rape and murder.
Between January 2018 and December 2019, the Zimbabwean national went on a violent spree.
The 28-year old was sentenced for six counts of murder, three counts of rape, eight counts of kidnapping, eight counts of extortion, eight counts of robbery with aggravating circumstances and being in the country illegally.
Luring his male victims under the pretence he needed help with directions, Kachidza would then kidnap the men and hold their families ransom.
Once the money was paid to him, he would kill the men, using blunt-forced trauma to the head.
With his three female victims, Kachidza used the guise of employment opportunities to lure them. He would then take the women to a bush or veld where he’d rape them and rob them.
Kachidza committed the crimes in Pretoria which is why he was dubbed the Pretoria serial killer.
He was arrested in January 2020 after DNA evidence tied him to the rapes.
