Pretoria High Court dismisses with cost DA’s cadre deployment case.
The Democratic Alliance (DA) took a hit on Wednesday when the Pretoria High Court denied its application to have the African National Congress’s cadre deployment policy ruled unconstitutional, along with costs.
The judgment handed down by Deputy Judge President Aubrey Ledwaba follows the DA’s triumph in the constitutional court over the ANC in a drawn-out legal battle to obtain the minutes of cadre deployments from 2013 onward.
A year ago the Democratic Alliance released a documentary that explained their case to the public.

In the wake of the constitutional court ruling, the ANC made its records public on Monday.
John Steenhuisen, the leader of the Democratic Alliance, told the media that “cadre deployment is not a victimless crime” and that the Democratic Alliance would appeal the case to the Supreme Court.
“Our legal team is busy as we speak, digesting the judgment. But we will appeal it to the SCA and potentially directly to the constitutional court. We believe there can be no greater constitutional imperative than to deal with this particular matter and its effect on South Africa.”
