The truck driver who was involved in the deadly Pongola accident that killed 18 people has given up on getting released on bail.
On Monday, Sibusiso Siyaya, 28, appeared in the Pongola Magistrate’s Court.
Siyaya decided not to pursue his bail in court today, and the case was postponed until October 25 to allow for additional investigation.
A truck and a light delivery vehicle collided head-on on September 16, killing 20 people.

18 children perished in the horrific incident.
Fikile Mbalula, the transport minister, went to the incident scene on Friday and gave information about the accident report.
The truck driver, according to Mbalula, was careless since he drove for 1.2 kilometres in the opposing lane after passing on a barrier line, risking the lives of other drivers.
Siyaya is suspected of leaving the collision site before turning himself in to the police a day later.
