- Rachel Matjeng told the Madlanga Commission that Vusimuzi Cat Matlala paid R4 500 for her Ozempic as a gift, denying claims that he funded a BBL.
- She admitted to concealing payments she received from Matlala while he held a SAPS tender, describing the money as a “girlfriend allowance.”
- Matjeng also confirmed their on-and-off relationship since 2017 and said the payments were hidden from both SAPS and Matlala’s wife.
A senior police official has testified that she only asked alleged criminal Vusimuzi Cat Matlala to pay for her Ozempic — and not for a Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL).
Rachel Matjeng, on Friday, told the Madlanga Commission that she asked Matlala to use his Medicare24 connection to buy the medication, often used for weight loss.
She says Matlala paid for it as her boyfriend and that it was not purchased using his company account.
WhatsApp exchanges between the two show that Matlala spent R4 500.
She once again reminded the commission that this was a gift and not gratification.
Matjeng also quickly addressed allegations of a BBL.
“The Ozempic, you can also use it for weight loss. At least I was doing it the normal way. I did not do BBL, like some people who did BBLs,” said Matjeng.
Matjeng also admitted to deliberately concealing payments she received from the alleged underworld kingpin when he still had a tender with the South African Police Service.
She told the commission that while the money was not gratification, but rather what she described as a girlfriend allowance, both she and Matlala knew her employer could not find out about it.
Matjeng, who oversaw aspects of the Medicare24 contract, says she had been in an on-and-off romantic relationship with the alleged criminal since 2017.
She said it was Matlala’s idea to hide the payments, not only from SAPS, but also from his wife.
