The capital city’s Tshwane Bus Service (TBS) operations are still severely hampered by a lack of diesel.
Only a few buses were visible on the route on Tuesday morning.
Due to severe operational constraints on Monday, TBS temporarily suspended its services. Numerous commuters were consequently stranded in the city.
Selby Bokaba, spokesperson for the City of Tshwane says more than half of the TBS fleet is not running on Tuesday because they did not get the delivery of diesel as anticipated.
“The City of Tshwane Metropolitan Municipality regrets to inform the TBS commuters about the temporary suspension of bus operations with effect from this afternoon, Monday, 19 September 2022, due to fuel shortages,”
We will continue to engage with our service provider with a view to expediting the delivery of diesel today so that service can return to normal.”

“It is hoped that if the service provider delivers as promised operations will resume tomorrow morning.”
However, the problem persisted Tuesday, and bus services remained severely limited.
“The few buses that are running are those that had some residue of diesel left in their tanks, but that diesel would soon be depleted,”
“We wish to reiterate our apology to our valued commuters for the inconvenience caused.” explained Bokaba.
