- The deadline for applications is 29th August 2025.
- Parents must complete all steps and submit documents to secure a spot.
The Gauteng Department of Education (GDE) is calling on parents to finalise their 2026 online admissions before the deadline, as a massive 600,936 applications for Grade 1 and Grade 8 have already been received.
With the application window closing on 29th August 2025, the department is emphasising the importance of completing all five application steps and submitting all required documents.
MEC for Education, Matome Chiloane, expressed his gratitude to the parents for their cooperation and the trust they have shown in the province’s education system.
The GDE has put a robust support system in place to help those facing challenges.
This includes decentralised walk-in centres at public schools and 81 dedicated hubs across the province for parents without access to online resources.
The department has also highlighted the importance of providing a valid cellphone number, as all future communication, including placement offers, will be sent via SMS starting from 16th October 2025.
Parents are encouraged to apply to multiple schools to improve their chances and to check the status of their application regularly on the official website.
