Gauteng MEC for Education, Panyaza Lesufi has been elected ANC Chairperson for the province.
Lesufi won the votes in the highly contested race, where he was up against Lebogang Maile, COGTA MEC.
The ruling party held its Gauteng elective conference in Benoni over the weekend.
Provincial Chairperson, Panyaza Lesufi won with 575 votes, beating Maile by just 32 votes.
Results from the conference were released on Monday, 27 June, after the 4-day conference concluded.
Former Deputy Security for the province, Nomantu Nkomo Ralehoko was voted Provincial Deputy Chairperson.
Thembinkosi TK Nciza is now the Provincial Secretary.

Gauteng Premier David Makhura sent his congratulations to the new leadership of the province.
“Congratulations to the leadership collective of the ANC Gauteng, as led by newly elected Chairperson Cde Panyaza Lesufi. I am confident that you will all take the battle for the renewal of the ANC as the most urgent task of our generation. Lead the people of Gauteng well.”
