A group called Operation Dudula has taken to the streets of Johannesburg on a rampage against undocumented foreign nationals.
Starting in Hillbrow on the weekend, the operation team then clashed with police in Orange Grove.
Accusing foreign nationals of being responsible for rampant crime, operating syndicates such as drug and prostitution, they are calling for urgent intervention.
In clashes with members of the South African Police Services, Operation Dudula has accused SAPS of being involved in these criminal activities.
Police used rubber bullets, teargas and water canons to disperse the crowd of angry protesters.
Members of the operation didn’t understand why they were met with such force and were asked for the first time to produce a Section 205 document that is required for a planned protest.
Operation Dudula vowed to return to the streets of Hillbrow on Saturday once they have acquired the necessary documentation.
This isn’t the first time that the group have taken to the streets to take an active stance against foreign nationals.
Last year they accompanied police during raids in the area.
Heated clashes between members of Dudula and foreign nationals meant police had to control the situation.
Some foreign nationals produced papers to prove they are in fact documented.
SAPS have allegedly asked for warrants from the operation team to reclaim hijacked buildings in Hillbrow.
