In the mining town of Rustenburg, North West, the Ministers of Basic Education and Minerals and Energy officially revealed the newly constructed Waterkloof Hills Combined School, which is of international renown.
Royal Bafokeng Platinum (RBPlat) and the North West Department of Education (NWDoE) entered into an agreement in 2019, on an equal financial contribution basis, to construct a much-needed primary and secondary school to the tune of R140 million.

According to Minister of Minerals and Energy Gwede Mantashe, the Waterkloof Hills Combined School boasts 63 classrooms with interactive boards & projectors, 1 multi-function room, 3 science laboratories, and sporting facilities such as multi-purpose courts, soccer fields, and a main field.

The departments report that R7.3 million was spent on local suppliers, while R58 million went to local subcontractors.

The development of the Waterkloof Hills Combined School, according to the Department of Basic Education, guarantees that infrastructure upgrades are in line with norms and standards.
