N1 highway in Midrand has been blocked by EFF members in protest of the release of Janusz Walus.
EFF protesters have halted traffic on the N1 in Midrand in the direction of Olifantsfontein Road.
Pretoria is heavily congested, therefore drivers are urged to take other routes.

Just days before his release, Chris Hani’s murderer Janusz Walus was attacked on November 29 at the Kgosi Mampuru Correctional Center in Pretoria.

After numerous fruitless attempts, the constitutional court decided to release him on parole exactly one week before the announcement of his stabbing.

According to JMPD spokesperson Xolani Fihla, public order police officers have been sent to the scene because the protest was not authorized.
“This has caused an inconvenience and frustration for motorists especially those travelling to Pretoria,” Fihla said.
