Bergview College principal Jaco Pieterse, who was falsely accused of raping a young girl in the Eastern Cape, says the ordeal has devastated every part of his life.
Pieterse has laid charges against EFF leader Julius Malema and ANC secretary-general Fikile Mbalula at the Sophiatown police station. The charges include crimen injuria, intimidation, and contravention of the Cybercrimes Act.
“It is life-changing — all aspects of my life have been affected. My education, career, physical health, and even my family have suffered. The school is still taking precautions, so I haven’t resumed my duties,” Pieterse told Kaya News outside the police station on Friday

He was one of three individuals accused of raping a seven-year-old girl on school premises.
In March 2025, police announced that no foreign DNA had been found on the victim during the investigation.
The allegations sparked national outrage, with South Africans taking to the streets holding placards and demanding justice for the young girl.
