Police have arrested a 36-year old mother after she allegedly stabbed her teenage son to death in Volksrust, Mpumalanga.
The 13-year old boy sustained stab wounds to his chest and throat and was found in a pool of blood on the lounge floor.
According to police the woman also stabbed her 8-month old baby and her 63-year old mother, after she reportedly lost her temper.
It is unclear at this stage what pushed the mother to react so violently toward her children but police say there was an altercation prior to her stabbing her teenage son and baby daughter.
“Police were notified of a fight inside a house in Volksrust and had to break the door to gain entry into the house. Once inside, the body of a teenage boy was found in a pool of blood on the lounge floor.
There were visible stab wounds on his chest and throat.
An elderly woman who was stabbed in the lower body was found hiding in the toilet. The 36-year old suspect was found with her injured 8-month old baby girl in the room.”
The mother will appear in court on Monday, 10 October to face a charge of murder and two counts of attempted murder.
