One South Africa movement leader, Mmusi Maimane is set to run for Presidency in the 2024 general elections.
Maimane who will be launching his new political platform on Heritage Day, this Saturday, 24 September will have his name on the ballot paper for the first time since he left the Democratic Alliance (DA) in 2019.
More details will be shared in Naledi, Soweto, and the new party will be an umbrella body to unearth and elect homegrown leadership in communities across the country.
In a statement, Maimane shared that he’s “now ready to rebuild” the country.
“The umbrella body will seek out the best candidates from communities to join me in running for office in the 2024 elections.”
The former DA leader previously shared that his visions for rebuilding the country involved giving the power back to communities.
Speaking to Sizwe Dhlomo on Kaya Drive, Maimane said “the big political parties come into the state and capture it, they deploy their people into their parties. It’s run by bureaucracies that are factionalized.”
Although he said that the reason OneSA will remain a movement and not a political party is because he wants to keep the integrity of his vision intact.
