Reigning Miss South Africa, Mia Le Roux, has withdrawn from the Miss Universe pageant scheduled for this weekend in Mexico due to health concerns.
The Miss South Africa organisation shared the news in an official statement:
“It is with deep regret that we announce Mia Le Roux, Miss South Africa 2024, has had to withdraw from the Miss Universe competition due to health issues.”
Mia expressed her gratitude, stating, “I am profoundly thankful for the unwavering support from South Africa during my time preparing for Miss Universe. Making this decision has been incredibly challenging, knowing the hopes and dreams so many have placed upon me. However, I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to focus on my health and recovery so I can continue to serve my country at full strength.”
The Miss South Africa Organisation added, “Mia has shown remarkable courage and grace throughout this difficult time. Her health and well-being are our utmost priority, and we stand firmly by her side, dedicated to supporting her recovery. Our hearts are with her as she takes the necessary steps toward healing.”
