Sibusiso Mbatha, a Grade 6 learner from Khehlekile Primary School, Thokoza took his life after allegedly being bullied by his teacher.
On Monday, 23 October, the 12-year old was found hanging in the bathroom at his home, after sending his mother a text that he wants to kill himelf.
“Mama, bye. See you in heaven. Love you.
I want to kill myself because of bullying I get from my teacher, Sir Dlamini. He always says things that hurt me. So, bye.”

Sibusiso’s family told Kaya News reporter Juliet Joseph that the teacher assaulted him and picked on the learner’s gayness.
Details around Sibusiso’s death are still sketchy but the teacher had allegedly verbally attacked the learner, making derogatory and homophobic comments.
The Mbatha family said the teacher admitted to making these comments to Sibusiso.
MEC for Education in Gauteng, Matome Chiloane said an independent law firm was appointed to compile a report on the circumstances leading up to Sibusiso Mbatha taking his life.
The family is shocked and heartbroken by Sibusiso’s death.
Sibusiso will be laid to rest this weekend.
