Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) Commander-In-Chief (CIC), Julius Malema says the party cannot be blamed for economic damage that will likely occur on 20 March.
This is when the EFF will take to the streets for a National Shutdown against loadshedding and calling for Ramaphosa’s resignation.
Addressing media at an EFF presser on Wednesday, 15 March, Malema said that if anyone is to blame for the country’s economic damage, it’s none other than President Cyril Ramaphosa.

“We have to stand up, and don’t tell us the shutdown will make the economy worse than what it is, we heard that people are quick to blame the EFF for that.
If you want to blame someone for the economic damage, blame Ramaphosa, who has abused his office and power. We’re not threatening violence, this is going to be a peaceful protest, but we are saying close everything.
If you’ve been made aware and you do what is in your best interest, it is your call, don’t come back to the EFF and say it must take responsibility.”
Julius Malema on the National Shutdown
Malema said there is no starting point for protesters to rally and there is no end point to the shutdown. He called on people to just meet wherever they are but the point is to shut the country down and not give Ramaphosa peace.
The EFF leader said despite the Democratic Alliance obtaining a court interdict against the shutdown taking place in the Western Cape, nothing is going to stop the red berets from taking to the streets.
“Everything else John was doing yesterday, he was just a PR to demonstrate to his funders that he is doing something in defence of Ramaphosa, but in reality he knows that he can’t stop the EFF.
The only difference between what we are doing on the 20th of March and what we did against President Zuma is that it doesn’t involve the white man.”
