Build One SA (BOSA) leader, Mmusi Maimane is urging ousted Eskom CEO Andre de Ruyter to name and shame the “high-level” politician involved in corruption at the failing power utility.
Maimane took to social media to share his message with de Ruyter to come forward and report the matter which according to the BOSA leader he is required by law to do.
In an explosive interview, de Ruyter dropped a few bombshells about the real reason Eskom is unable to power the country.
De Ruyter claims that millions were stolen from Eskom coffers on a monthly basis. He also stated that there was a high profiled minister who was implicated and seemingly accused President Cyril Ramaphosa of being aware of this.
Responding to de Ruyter’s claims, Maimane shared that in 2015 he had personally asked Former President Jacob Zuma about what is now referred to as State Capture in relation to the Eskom corruption.
“In October 2015 Mcebisi Jonas went to the Guptas and was offered R600 million to become Finance Minister.
I went to Parliament and asked the then President Jacob Zuma, what did he know about this and what action was he going to take?
These and many other revelations were the beginning of what is now the State Capture action and report.
But we all know that even after President Zuma went, State Capture was not finished.
Yesterday’s interview by Andre de Ruyter is confirmation that State Capture is continuing by criminals who have held this country hostage, whilst many of us don’t have electricity.
Like Mr de Ruyter has already stated that he knew of a Minister, who ultimately was involved in looting at Eskom. That is a violation of the law, I would advise Mr de Ruyter to publicly name the person.”

Maimane said he would be happy to go to the police station to open a case because if de Ruyter refuses to do so it becomes a criminal violation.
The BOSA leader said it was shocking to hear de Ruyter say that President Ramaphosa was informed about the corruption that was still rampant at Eskom, who then turned a blind eye.
“Moreover, we must ascertain what President Cyril Ramaphosa knew about this matter and what he did about it. De Ruyter was clear in saying he took the matter up with the President’s advisor.
I will therefore be writing to the President asking him the following questions:
1. Whether his advisor informed him of these allegations,
2. When he was informed,
3. What action he took after being informed.”
