KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) police have gunned down 3 suspects linked to the murder of a fellow police officer in Inanda in 2023.
It took a year for a special task team to locate the suspects, following an intensive investigation.
On Tuesday, 23 July a decisive and high-staked operation tracked down the suspects who had been evading justice.
When police arrived at the suspects’ location, a confrontation ensued and resulted in a shootout. It was during this exchange, according to police that 3 suspects were shot and killed.
New Minister of Police, Senzo Mchunu expressed his appreciation to the SAPS members for their dedicated and unwavering commitment to this case.
“The loss of a police officer in the line of duty is a profound tragedy, not only for the family and colleagues of the fallen officer but for the entire nation.
To the members of the KwaZulu-Natal SAPS, your bravery and dedication are a testament to the spirit of our police force. We are immensely proud of your actions and will continue to support you in every way possible.”
The Minister further reiterated the importance of bringing all criminals to justice and also called for community cooperation, saying there will be zero tolerance regarding any attacks on law enforcement officers.
