- SANParks has introduced daily entry quotas and strict arrival time slots for day visitors to prevent festive season overcrowding.
- Pre-booking via the official website is essential, with conservation fees tiered by residency and a mandatory cash-free payment system at southern gates.
- Heightened patrols by police and military will enforce park rules, while vehicles without valid number plates face immediate impoundment.
South African National Parks (SANParks) has announced the implementation of strict gate quotas at Kruger National Park (KNP) this festive season. The measures aim to manage traffic congestion and prevent the overcrowding of park facilities during the peak holiday period.
Day visitors are strongly encouraged to pre-book their entry via the official SANParks website to avoid disappointment. Once daily limits are reached, only those with prior bookings will be granted access.
While overnight guests are exempt from the quota, day visitors must adhere to specific arrival time slots (05:30–08:00, 08:00–10:00, or 10:00 onwards).
Late arrivals will lose their priority status and be treated as non-booked guests.
All visitors must produce valid identification such as a South African ID, driving licence, or passport to qualify for reduced residency-based conservation fees.
Failure to provide documentation will result in the standard international rate of R602 per adult. Additionally, a non-refundable booking fee applies to all day visitors, including Wild Card members.
| Visitor Category | Adult Fee | Child Fee (2–11) |
| South Africa, Zimbabwe & Mozambique | R134 | R67 |
| SADC Nationals | R275 | R137 |
| Standard International | R602 | R300 |
SANParks has confirmed a heightened security presence, with Ranger Services, the South African Police Service, and the National Defence Force deployed to monitor compliance and deter poaching.
Strict vehicle regulations are also in effect; any vehicle lacking valid number plates will be denied entry or impounded if found within the park.
Visitors are reminded that southern gates and fuel stations now operate on a cash-free payment system for increased efficiency. SANParks urges all guests to respect park regulations and use the 24-hour emergency numbers provided on permits to report any incidents.
