The focus of the operation included verifying driver licenses, checking vehicle discs, confirming permits for foreign riders, and enforcing parking regulations
The JMPD says they have seen a surge in delivery bikes obstructing traffic, parking illegally, and driving recklessly without the correct documentation, which has posed safety risks for the public.
In a statement posted on X, the JMPD said, “We urge all delivery operators to operate legally, ensure their documentation is up-to-date, and practice safe driving at all times.
Road safety is everyone’s responsibility. Delivery companies and platforms—please ensure your riders comply with all laws and prioritize road safety. Together, we can create a safer Johannesburg for all.”
