The Limpopo High Court has dismissed the latest bail application submitted by popular Lekompo artist Lehlogonolo “Shebeshxt” Chauke, ruling that no new facts were presented to warrant reconsidering his detention.
The decision means the musician will remain in custody until the criminal proceedings against him are finalised, bringing an end to a series of interlocutory applications filed by his defence.
Chauke’s ongoing legal battles involve a series of severe criminal charges stemming from multiple incidents.
He faces several counts of attempted murder including allegations linked to a shooting in Polokwane where shots were fired at a vehicle, injuring a motorist alongside charges of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, robbery with aggravating circumstances, and malicious damage to property.
Prosecutors previously opposed bail, highlighting that the firearm associated with the offences remained unrecovered and noting that several alleged acts occurred while he was already out on bail for prior matters.
With his latest attempt to secure release on R100,000 bail turned down, the court noted that the matter will now move forward directly to trial without further procedural delays from the defence team.
