Suspect arrested in Tembisa woman’s murder
In a police breakthrough, Gauteng police have arrested a suspect in connection with the murder of a woman whose body was discovered at Mooifontein Cemetery in the Vusimusi section of Tembisa on Saturday, 26 September 2026.
The deceased has been identified as Ntombifuthu Nxumalo. She was found naked with serious head injuries.
Stones were found around her body, raising the possibility that she may have been stoned. No visible stab wounds were observed at the scene.
“Preliminary investigations revealed that the deceased had been drinking at a local tavern with a female acquaintance before she left the premises in the company of an unidentified man.
Information obtained from residents living near the cemetery indicated that they allegedly heard a woman screaming and pleading for her life at approximately 23:00.
Investigators traced the suspect to an address in Tembisa before establishing that he had travelled to Limpopo,” Muridili added.
Police followed the suspect to Limpopo, where he was found asleep in his room and arrested.
The investigation into the murder is continuing.
