- Eskom is enforcing planned load reduction across multiple Gauteng areas this week, leading to scheduled power outages.
- Residents should prepare for interruptions lasting up to five hours, with cuts planned during both morning (5 AM – 9 AM) and evening (5 PM – 10 PM) peak demand hours.
- A seven-day rotating schedule impacts numerous suburbs and townships, including Jabulani, Katlehong, and Stinkwater, among others.
Residents and businesses across Gauteng are urged to prepare for another week of planned electricity outages, as the national utility, Eskom, presses ahead with its load reduction programme. Multiple regions across the province will experience scheduled power cuts designed to ease pressure on the grid during periods of high demand.
The utility has confirmed that the controlled outages will see specific areas without power for up to four or even five hours at a time, depending on their location and the official load-reduction timetable.
The cuts are strategically timed to coincide with peak demand hours, affecting communities in both the morning and evening:
- Morning Reductions (05:00 to 09:00): Areas set to lose power during the early hours include Dobsonville, Naledi, Mapetla, Monise, Kudube, and Chiawelo. Other affected regions include Zuma, Rethabiseng, Langaville, and various other settlements across the province.
- Evening Reductions (17:00 to 22:00): The evening peak will impact numerous areas such as Kagiso, Khutsong, Tsakane, Protea South, and surrounding zones.
Additional areas facing interruptions include Mabopane, Emdeni, Zola, Duduza, and Vryburg, along with numerous extensions in neighbouring regions.
Eskom is implementing the load reduction on a seven-day rotating schedule, a structure intended to provide residents with a measure of predictability regarding when their area might be affected.
The following townships and neighbourhoods are specifically listed as part of this week’s scheduled power cuts:
- Jabulani
- Moletsane
- Tladi
- Evaton
- Stretford
- Mabuya Park
- Magagula Heights
- Katlehong
- Vooslorus
- Zonkizizwe
- Makapstand
- Stinkwater
- Winterveldt
Residents and businesses are strongly advised to consult Eskom’s official schedule for the precise times and durations affecting their specific addresses to ensure adequate preparations are made.
