South African motorists are bracing for another significant increase in fuel prices, effective at midnight tonight.
The Department of Mineral Resources and Energy announced that the price of petrol will rise by between 52 and 55 cents per litre.
The pinch will be even sharper for diesel users, with prices set to climb by a substantial 82 to 84 cents per litre.
Furthermore, illuminating paraffin, a vital energy source for many households, will see an 89-cent increase at the retail level.
The department attributes these steep hikes primarily to a surge in global oil prices.

This increase is largely driven by heightened geopolitical tensions and ongoing conflict in the Middle East, specifically between Israel and Iran, which has significantly impacted international crude oil markets.
