- FlySafair is facing flight disruptions between 22 and 28 July 2025 as pilots plan to strike over a wage dispute, after rejecting a 5.7% offer.
- The dispute is fuelled by a “tense relationship” and pilot frustrations over leave policies and a new, inflexible rostering system.
- Strike rules are being finalised today, 17 July, under the guidance of the CCMA, as passengers are urged to check their flight status.
FlySafair is facing significant disruption to its flight schedule next week, as pilots represented by the trade union Solidarity are set to strike over an ongoing wage dispute.
The airline has already begun rescheduling selected flights between Tuesday, 22 July, and Monday, 28 July 2025, after failing to reach an agreement with the union.
The majority of Solidarity members have rejected FlySafair’s offer of a 5.7% wage increase and additional compensation.
However, the union stresses that the dispute goes beyond just pay; a “tense relationship” between pilots and management is also a key factor.
Pilots are reportedly frustrated by the company’s policies on leave and days off, which they claim negatively impact their quality of life and fall short of minimum expectations.
The final strike rules for the wage dispute are due to be ironed out today, Thursday, 17 July, under the supervision of the Commission for Conciliation, Mediation and Arbitration (CCMA).
Passengers booked on FlySafair flights during the affected period are advised to check their flight status for potential changes.
