FlySafair has apologised to passengers who were affected by delays to their flights on Thursday, 29 June due to an unauthorised drone in the airspace.
Flights were delayed by approximately 60-minutes throughout the day as a result, with a number of passengers voicing their anger at the airline online.
In a statement, FlySafair said they always act conservatively in the best interest of their passengers, and said they did everything possible to restore operations as quickly as possible.
“Attention to all passengers at OR Tambo International Airport, we regret to inform you about extensive delays caused by an unauthorised drone in the airspace.
On average, there is a delay of approximately 60-minutes, and subsequent delays may affect other flights. We understand the inconvenience this may cause and want to assure affected passengers that our teams are working diligently with the relevant authorities to address the issue and restore normal operations as quickly as possible.”
The airline didn’t give an update on whether flights on Friday, 30 June would be affected.
