Emergency Medical Services (EMS) firefighting crews are currently on the scene battling a fire that erupted at the South African Breweries (SAB) in Soweto on Thursday, 26 June 2025.
The blaze reportedly originated in a nearby field when dry grass caught fire.
The flames spread rapidly, igniting storage crates located on the brewery’s premises.

No injuries have been reported at this stage. Emergency teams are working swiftly to contain the fire and prevent it from spreading further or causing additional damage to the facility.
The cause of the initial grass fire is not yet known and the damage is being assessed.
