A female bank employee was shot and killed while boarding a Metrobus to work on Wednesday morning, 26 June.
The 40-year old woman was reportedly an employee of Nedbank and was boarding a bus in Fleurhof, Roodepoort which was en-route to Sandton.
According to reports, the shooter was already on board the bus, and fired two shots at the bank employee while she was entering the bus.
The woman was shot a further two times by the gunman who has not been identified, which suggests the incident was a planned hit.
Joburg Transport MMC Kenny Kunene said the shooting happened on Boabab Street in Fleurhof just before 06h00.
After shooting the woman, the suspect fled in a white VW Polo which did not have number plates.
“The shooter had his face covered and wore a hat.
This was a clear hit. The lady was targeted. She works at Nedbank, but we will not disclose her name yet.
We know there are criminal syndicates that want bank employees to do certain things for them and when they refuse this is what happens.
The Metrobus in question has a camera and the footage will be handed over to police for the investigation.”
