Ukraine’s President Zelensky has won the hearts of many European politicians who are against the Ukraine-Russia conflict.
According to a newly released statement, several current and former European politicians addressed the Norwegian Nobel Committee with a request to nominate Ukraine’s Volodymyr Zelenskyy for the Nobel Peace Prize in 2022.
In a statement dated 11 March, the group has called for the nomination procedure to be extended until March 31.
“We therefore humbly call upon you, the Committee, to consider: Extending and thereby re-opening the nomination procedure for the Nobel Peace Prize until March 31, 2022 to allow for a Nobel Peace Prize nomination for President Zelensky and the people of Ukraine,” read the statement.

The prestigious prize was once awarded to Former South African Presidents Nelson Mandela and FW De Kerk.
It has been awarded annually since March 1901 (with some exceptions), to those who have “done the most or the best work for fraternity between nations, for the abolition or reduction of standing armies and for the holding and promotion of peace congresses”.
This year there are approximately 251 individuals and 92 organizations who have applied for the 2022 Nobel Peace Prize.
The Nobel Prize announcements will take place from October 3-10.
