Eskom has dispelled social media posts claiming Komati Power station has collapsed.
In response to pictures of cooling towers collapsing that are allegedly those of the power company, Eskom claims that this is not Komati and most definitely not an Eskom power station.
Users of social media were disseminating the images on the pretence that they came from the Komati power plant.
The power utility said “Eskom has noted some picture circulating on some Social Media platforms of cooling towers being demolished, purported to be Komati Power Station.”
“This is not Komati, and certainly not an Eskom power station. None has been demolished like this during the past 10 years.”
