After 20 days of uninterrupted electricity supply, power utility Eskom has announced a temporary setback, resulting in the implementation of Stage 3 loadshedding.
The power cuts will begin on Saturday, 22 February, at 17:30 and continue until further notice. Eskom has promised to provide an update on Sunday, 23 February 2025.
Earlier in February, Eskom had reintroduced loadshedding after nearly a year of consistent power supply.
However, the utility later confirmed that reserves had been replenished, with dam levels fully restored and open-cycle gas turbines adequately recovered, ensuring a stable electricity supply.
This latest development highlights the ongoing challenges faced by Eskom in maintaining a reliable power grid, despite recent improvements.
